Pleurotomaria valeria was named by Billings (1865) [Pleurotomaria Valeria]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Euomphalopterus valeria by Whiteaves (1906), Parks (1913), Parks (1915), Northrop (1939) and Wagner (2023).
