Soleniscus brevis was named by White (1881). It is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Macrochilina brevis by Knight (1931) and Sturgeon (1937); it was recombined as Macrochilina (Sphaerodoma) brevis by Reed (1944); it was recombined as Ianthinopsis brevis by Sturgeon (1964) and Yochelson and Saunders (1967); it was recombined as Strobeus brevis by Kulas and Batten (1997), Kues and Batten (2001) and Wagner (2023).
