It was recombined as Hormotoma maia by Ulrich and Scofield (1897); it was recombined as Murchisonia (Hormotomina) maia by Linsley (1968); it was recombined as Hormotomina maia by Grabau and Shimer (1909), Knight et al. (1960), Fagerstrom (1961), Blodgett et al. (1999), Wagner (2023).
