Plectonotus (Bucaniella) hapsideus was named by Clarke (1913) [Plectontous (Bucaniella) hapsideus Clarke 1913]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Plectonotus hapsideus by Boucot et al. (1986), Wagner (2023).
