Latentibifistula was named by Nazarov and Ormiston (1983). It is not extant. Its type is Latentibifistula triacanthophora.
It was assigned to Ruzhencevispongidae by De Wever et al. (2001); and to Latentifistulidae by Thassanapak (2015) and Noble et al. (2017).
