Lekiskochiton was named by Hoare and Smith (1984) [Sepkoski's age data: P Leon-u P Guad-l Sepkoski's reference number: 1029]. Its type is Lekiskochiton fornicis. It is the type genus of Lekiskochitonidae.
It was assigned to Lepidopleuridae by Hoare and Smith (1984); to Neoloricata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Lekiskochitonidae by Mazaev (2024).
