Ochmazochiton was named by Hoare and Smith (1984) [Sepkoski's age data: P Sakm P Leon-u Sepkoski's reference number: 278]. Its type is Ochmazochiton comptus. It is the type genus of Ochmazochitonidae.
It was assigned to Neoloricata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Ochmazochitonidae by Hoare and Smith (1984), Mazaev (2024).
