Mulceodens was named by Pojeta and Runnegar (1976) [Sepkoski's age data: S Wenl D Give-l Sepkoski's reference number: 542]. It is not extant. Its type is Mulceodens jaanussoni.
It was assigned to Bransoniidae by Pojeta and Runnegar (1976); and to Conocardioida by Sepkoski (2002).
