Taxonomy
Silesaurus was named by Dzik (2003). It is the type genus of Silesauridae. It was considered monophyletic by Nesbitt (2011).
It was assigned to Dinosauriformes by Dzik (2003), Ezcurra (2006), Irmis et al. (2007); to Ornithischia by Martínez and Alcober (2009); to Silesauridae by Nesbitt et al. (2010), Langer et al. (2010), Nesbitt (2011), Kammerer et al. (2012), Martínez et al. (2016), Griffin and Nesbitt (2016); and to Sulcimentisauria by Martz and Small (2019).
