Celtites was named by von Mojsisovics (1882). It is not extant. It is the type genus of Celtitidae.
It was assigned to Tropitidae by von Mojsisovics (1882); to Ceratitida by Smith (1932); to Celtitidae by Smith (1927), Spath (1951); to Danubitidae by Fantini Sestini (1996); and to Danubitinae by Vörös (2018).
