Taxonomy
Exostinus lancensis was named by Gilmore (1928). Its type specimen is USNM 10689, a maxilla, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Lance Creek area (non-specific), which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial horizon in the Lance Formation of Wyoming.
