Eobucania was named by Kobayashi (1955) [Sepkoski's age data: O Trem Sepkoski's reference number: 797]. It is not extant. Its type is Eobucania pulchra.
It was assigned to Bucaniides by Knight et al. (1960); to Bucaniinae by Wahlman (1992); to Bellerophontida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Temnodiscinae by Wagner (2023).
