Pedasiola was named by Spriesterbach (1919) [Sepkoski's age data: D Give Sepkoski's reference number: 362]. Its type is Pedasiola rhenana. It is the type genus of Pedasiolinae.
It was assigned to Pterothecinae by Knight et al. (1960); to Bellerophontida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Pedasiolinae by Wahlman (1992) and Bouchet et al. (2005).
