Taxonomy
Elongatoolithus sigillarius was named by Mikhailov (1994). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is PIN 4126-403, an egg, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gooreeliyn-Tsav [SMPE/SMGE[, which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial horizon in the Nemegt Formation of Mongolia.

Predominant range of shell thicknesses (in equatorial region of egg) 0.4–0.8 mm; total range 0.3–1.1 mm (with elements of sculpture up to 1.2 mm). Egg size (150–170) x (60–70) mm.
