Taxonomy
Azygograptus novozealandicus was named by Skwarko (1962) [TYPE LOCALITY: GS 7375, Peel Range, South Island, New Zealand (Lw Gisbornian). TYPE REPOSITORY: New Zealand Geological Survey (now GNS Science), Lower Hutt, New Zealand]. It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is GS 7371 - Aorere Group, Chaffey Stream, which is in a Darriwilian marine shale/sandstone in the Leslie Formation of New Zealand.
