Teichaster reticulatus was named by Schulz and Weitschat (1981). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Geologisch-Paläontologischen Institute, University of Hamburg.
It was recombined as Crateraster reticulatus by Gale (1987), Jagt (2000) and Reich and Frenzel (2002).
