Taxonomy

Acila (Truncacila) rosaria was named by Squires and Saul (2006) [TYPE LOCALITY: LACMIP loc. 25431, Punta San Jose, Baja California, Mexico (Early Campanian-Late Maastrichtian). TYPE REPOSITORY: LACMIP, California.]. Its type specimen is LACMIP 13234 and is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is UCLA loc. 5431, Punta San Jose, which is in a Campanian/Maastrichtian marine siliciclastic in the Rosario Formation of Mexico.
