Acila (Truncacila) princeps was named by Schenck (1943) [TYPE LOCALITY: CAS 69075, west side San Joaquin Valley, northern California (Late Campanian-Early Maastrichtian). TYPE REPOSITORY: CAS, California.]. Its type specimen is CAS 69075 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is LSJU 2372, which is in a Campanian/Maastrichtian marine sandstone in the Moreno Formation of California.
