Taxonomy
Agnostus fallax was named by Linnarsson (1869). It is the type species of Peronopsis.
It was recombined as Mesagnostus fallax by Jaekel (1909); it was recombined as Peronopsis fallax by Westergard (1936) and Palmer and Gatehouse (1972); it was recombined as Peronopsis (Armagnostus) fallax by Kobayashi (1939); it was recombined as Axagnostus fallax by Laurie (1990); it was synonymized subjectively with Peronopsis acadica by Robison (1995).
