Nucula (Linucula) waipaoa was named by Marwick (1931) [TYPE LOCALITY: GS 1295, Ihungia Fm, Mangarueke Stream, Waimata, East Coast, North Island, New Zealand (Altonian=Early Miocene). TYPE REPOSITORY: NZGS (now GNS Science, Lower Hutt, New Zealand).].
