Clathrocorys was named by Haeckel (1882) [2b. Tribe: Sethopilida. Open triradiate dyocyrtids. C. Three-footed Sethopilida (Lychnocanida) - all acute. CII. With second segment cleft into three parts (with three large apertures between three latticed ribs). IIb. With second segment having three latticed wings. (Translated from Latin by E.M.R. and W.R.R.)]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Sethoperidae by De Wever et al. (2001).
