Taxonomy
Terebratula patagonica was named by Sowerby (1846).

It was recombined as Magellania patagonica by Ihering (1897); it was recombined as Terebratella patagonica by Lahille (1899), Zinsmeister (1981), Chiesa et al. (1995).
