Taxonomy
Cardita elegantoides was named by Ortman (1902) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene-Miocene; Chile, Argentina.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Pleuromeris elegantoides by Malumian et al. (1978), Frassinetti and Covacevich (1999); it was recombined as Venericardia elegantoides by Camacho et al. (2000).
