Bellerophon (Prosoptychus) projectus was named by Perner (1903) [Bellerophon (Prosoptychus) projectus Perner 1903]. It is not extant. Its type locality is Lodenice, which is in a Homerian carbonate limestone in the Motol Formation of the Czech Republic.
It was recombined as Prosoptychus projectus by Horný (1963) and Wagner (2023).
