Isanda was named by Adams and A (1854) [Sepkoski's age data: T Dani R]. It is extant. Its type is Isanda coronata.

It was assigned to Trochidae by Ladd (1966); to Archaeogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Umboniinae by Wilson (1993) and Bouchet et al. (2005).
