Taxonomy
Lucina saxorum was named by Lamarck (1806) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; western Atlantic.]. It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Claibornites (Saxolucina).
It was recombined as Claibornites (Saxolucina) saxorum by Stewart (1930); it was recombined as Miltha saxorum by Morellet and Miltha (1945); it was recombined as Saxolucina saxorum by Pacaud and Le Renard (1995) and Stilwell et al. (2004).
