Taxonomy
Thestyleda was named by Iredale (1929) [Sepkoski's age data: T Plio R; Synonym of Nuculana Link 1807 [Coan et al. 2000]]. It is extant.

It was reranked as Leda (Thestyleda) by Hashimoto (1982); it was reranked as Nuculana (Thestyleda) by Moore (1983) and Todd (2001); it was synonymized subjectively with Nuculana by Coan et al. (2000).

It was assigned to Leda by Hashimoto (1982); to Nuculana by Moore (1983) and Todd (2001); to Nuculoida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Nuculanidae by Vokes (1980), Spencer et al. (2004) and Mikkelsen (2006).
