Taxonomy

Plicatoscyllium was named by Case and Cappetta (1997). Its type is Plicatoscyllium derameei.

It was assigned to Ginglymostomatidae by Noubhani and Cappetta (1997), Case and Cappetta (1997), Cappetta and Corral (1999), Corral et al. (2016), Cappetta et al. (2019), Hoganson et al. (2019), Guinot et al. (2023).
