Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
H. de Bruijn et al. 1987Mirabella intermedia has low-crowned teeth with cusps that are much higher than the lophs. The posterior arm of the protoconid and the posterolophid are parallel in m1-m3. The anterior arm of the hypocone of the M1 and M2 is very strong and always reaching the labial border of the occlusal surface. The anterocone of the M1 is divided into two subequal cusps which are far apart. The ectoloph is complete between the paracone and the metacone.
H. de Bruijn et al. 1993the species intermedius is a medium-sized Deperetomys. Cheek teeth with slender cusps that are much higher than the lophs. The anterocone of the M1 consists of two sub-equal cusps that are situated rather far apart and may be completely separate. The postero-lingual spur of the anterocone is variable in length and may be absent. The burgee-shaped postero-labial spur of the antero-cone is always strong. The mesolophs in M1 and M2 and mesolophids in m1-m3 are usually very long. Archaic structures like a forwards directed metaloph in the M1 and M2 and a posterior arm of the hypoconid of the m1 and m2 occur in many specimens.
