Enginia beckerplateni

Taxonomy
Enginia beckerplateni was named by de Bruijn and von Koenigswald (1994). It is not extant. Its type specimen is MTA Ki3A-unnumbered, M1 sup. dext., a tooth. Its type locality is Kilcak 3A, which is in a Miocene lacustrine horizon in Türkiye.

H. de Bruijn and W. von Koenigswald 1994Enginia beckerplateni is a small representative of the genus. The protolophule I of the M1 is interrupted, the protolophule II is complete. The metalophule of the two M1 from the type locality is weak or absent, but in the specimen from Kilçak 0, that is tentatively assigned to the species beckerplateni, the metalophule is transverse and complete. The anterior arm of the protocone of the M2 is strong and forms a protolophule I in three of the four M2 from the type locality.
