Taxonomy
Oxyclaenus subbituminus was named by Middleton and Dewar (2004). Its type specimen is UCM 34571, a maxilla. Its type locality is Alexander, which is in a Puercan terrestrial shale/sandstone in the Denver Formation of Colorado.
