Taxonomy

Schizopea was named by Butts (1926) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Trep-u O Aren]. It is not extant. Its type is Schizopea washburnenei.

It was assigned to Ophiletinae by Knight et al. (1960); to Ophiletidae by Morris and Cleevely (1981); to Sinuopeidae by Wagner (1999); and to Archaeogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002).

Synonyms

Rhachopea was named by Ulrich et al. (1931). It is not extant. Its type is Rhachopea typica.

It was synonymized subjectively with Schizopea by Knight et al. (1960).
Dirhachopea was named by Ulrich et al. (1931) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Trep-u O Trem-l]. It is not extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Schizopea by Wagner (1999).

It was assigned to Ophiletinae by Knight et al. (1960); to Ophiletidae by Morris and Cleevely (1981); and to Archaeogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002).
