Cryptotopos beatus

Taxonomy
Cryptotopos beatus was named by Crochet (1974) [The type stems from old Quercy collections and the exact provenance is unknown. Presumably it is of Eocene age.]. Its type specimen is MMn I 5, a mandible (sin. with p4-m3), and it is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Cryptotopos.

Crochet 1974?Nyctitheriidae dont la formule dentaire inferieure est complete, p2-p4 biradiculées, p3 et p4 sub-égales avec une petite cuspide antérieure. p4 est molarisée; les molaires possèdant un paraconide en forme de crête, la crista obliqua remonte vers le sommet du métaconide, l'entocrista très échancrée, l'hypoconulide fort. Cette dernière cuspide est très forte et projetée en arrière sur m3 dont le talonide est allongé.
