Taxonomy
Desmanella gardiolensis was named by Crochet (1986). It is not extant. Its type specimen is LPVM BAC 2 517, a tooth (M1 sup. dext.). Its type locality is Balaruc II, Herault, which is in a Pliocene terrestrial horizon in France.
