Epimeriones austriacus
Taxonomy
Epimeriones austriacus was named by Daxner-Höck (1972). It is not extant. Its type specimen is PIUW 1953/1/27 Sch. 2, a tooth (m3 inf. dext.). Its type locality is Eichkogel, Mödling (NHMW collection), which is in a MN 11 lacustrine marl/limestone in Austria. It is the type species of Epimeriones.

| G. Daxner-Höck 1972 | Obere Incisiven mit einfacher Längsrinne. Die Molaren sind hochkronig, bewurzelt, prismenförmig. M/m1 bestehen aus je drei prismen, M/m 2-3 aus je zwei prismen. Die Synklinalen opponieren, sind relativ weit und in ihren Scheiteln abgerundet, nicht winkelig. Keine Zementeinlagerung in den Synklinalen. M/m 3 sind im gegensatz zu den bekannten rezenten und fossilen gatuugnen der gerbillinae zweilophig, symmetrisch, langgestreckt, ohne Anzeichen von Reduktionserscheinungen. M1-M2 sind dreiwurzeling, M3 und m1-3 besitzen je 2 Wurzeln. |
