Desmanodon antiquus was named by Ziegler (1985). It is not extant. Its type specimen is BSP 1959 XXVIII 589, a tooth (M1 dex.).

R. Ziegler 1985Kleine Art von Desmanodon. P4 mit drei getrennten Wurzeln, Innenhügel nur angedeutet. M sup. mit tief gespaltenem Mesostyl und deutlichem Metaconulus, Parastyl kurz, nicht abgesetzt, kein Protoconulus. m2,3 mit markantem Präcingulid und zur Mitte der Trigonidwand abfallender Crista obliqua. p4 mit zarter Metaconidknospe. Humerus schlank mit langes leistenförmiges Tub. teres, distal liegendes Tub. pectoralis, scharfkantige Crista pectralis, lateral kompromiertes Caput parallel zur Längsachse des Humerus.
