Galemys hungaricus was named by Kormos (1913). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Ung. Geol. Amst. Budapest /MNMB unnumbered, a mandible (Mandibles, humerus, ulna, tibia).
It was recombined as Mygalinia hungarica by Schreuder (1940).
