Taxonomy
Metacarcinus goederti was named by Schweitzer and Feldmann (2000). Its type specimen is USNM 507771, a carapace, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS M8170, Milky River, which is in a Miocene/Miocene marine sandstone in the Bear Lake Formation of Alaska.
