Parapostibulla graysoni was named by Sumrall et al. (2006). Its type locality is Forbes Ranch, Edrioasteroids, Marietta, Oklahoma, which is in a Morrowan shallow subtidal conglomerate in the Golf Course Formation of Oklahoma.
