Taxonomy
Castillomys (Centralomys) benericettii was named by de Guili (1989). It is not extant. Its type specimen is DSZUF BRS 1, a tooth (M1 sup. sin.).

It was recombined as Centralomys benericettii by Martín Suárez and Mein (1991).
