Taxonomy
Lucina cribraria was named by Say (1824) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Pliocene; Atlantic Coastal Plain.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Codakia cribraria by Conrad (1863); it was recombined as Phacoides (Lucinisca) cribrarius by Dall (1903), Gardner (1943); it was recombined as Phacoides (Lucinisca) cribraria by Glenn (1904); it was recombined as Lucina (Lucinisca) cribraria by Chavan (1937); it was recombined as Lucinisca cribrarius by Hendy et al. (2008).
