Taxonomy
Cistudo eurypygia was named by Cope (1870). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Oxford Neck, which is in a Pleistocene terrestrial horizon in Maryland.
It was synonymized subjectively with Testudo carolina by Parris and Daeschler (1995); it was recombined as Terrapene eurypygia by Cope (1899), Hay (1902), Hay (1908), Hay (1930), Milstead (1956), Vlachos (2018).
