Taxonomy
Nymphaster oligoplax was named by Sladen (1891). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Natural History Museum, London, holotype BNHM OR 40178.

It was recombined as Ophryaster oligoplax by Spencer (1913), Schulz and Weitschat (1981), Breton (1992), Lewis (1993), Helm (1997), Jagt (2000).
