Taxonomy
Clapasorex alvarezae was named by van den Hoek Ostende (2003). It is not extant. Its type specimen is MNCN Ra-3 48, a mandible (with m1, m2). Its type locality is Ramblar 3, which is in a MN 3 terrestrial horizon in Spain.

The alveoles of the anterior three antemolars of sub-equal size, and partly confluent. The m1 and m2 have a lingual cingulum, which is better developed in the m1. Hypocones of the upper molars poorly developed. |
