Taxonomy
Rhenops odremani was named by Carvalho and Moody (2000) [= Rhenops, n. sp., Lieberman and Kloc, 1997: 76, fig. 15, 1-8.]. Its type specimen is MBLUZ P-987, a cephalon/head (cephalon), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is 260 meters, Perija Mountains section, between 1.2 and 2.5 km, north of Hacienda El Reposo, high, eastern flank of the upper valley formed by Caño Colorado, northern tributary of Rio Palmar in the Perijá Mountains, which is in a Givetian marine siltstone in the Cano del Oeste Formation of Venezuela.
