Taxonomy
Plaina was named by Castellanos (1927) [Originally named Kraglievichia]. It is not extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Vassallia by Rincón et al. (2008).

It was assigned to Dasypodidae by Marshall and Sempere (1991); and to Pampatheriidae by MacFadden et al. (1993), Tomassini et al. (2013).
