Taxonomy
Metopaster tumidus radiatus was named by Spencer (1913). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Sedgwick Museum, Cambridge, holotype SM B.48513.

It was recombined as Recurvaster radiatus by Rasmussen (1950), Müller (1953), Müller (1961), Spencer and Wright (1966), Schulz and Weitschat (1975), Rasmussen (1979), Gale (1987), Helm (1997), Reich and Frenzel (2002).
