Tylaster aalensis was named by Mercier (1935) [The collection of Mercier has been destroyed during the Second World War]. It is not extant.

It was recombined as Tylasteria aalensis by Breton (1992).

G. Breton 1992Marginal plates close morphologically to those of T. prisca. Marginal plates large, typically of approximately 7 mm. Lateral faces flat, parallel. External face regularly convex, with ornament of large deep granule-pits.
