Taxonomy
Goniospira was named by Cossmann (1895) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Ladi]. Its type is Turritella armata. It is the type genus of Goniospiridae.

It was assigned to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002); to Zygopleurinae by Bouchet et al. (2005); and to Goniospiridae by Golikov and Starobogatov (1987), Nützel and Kaim (2014).
