It was assigned to Carcharias by Chapman and Pritchard (1904), Eastman (1904), Chapman and Cudmore (1924); to Carcharidae by Leriche (1942); to Galeidae by Jordan (1963); and to Carcharhinus by Ralte et al. (2011).
